I know it has been discussed before. I understand that I can pick up PGFD's new system when its operating in FDMA on a 996T? I have put the info in and can't get it to grab the control channel. I'm in Silver Spring MD, so it shouldn't be an issue. We also have a PGFD portable, that is picking up no problem. Does anyone have the .996 file from there working system that I can have. Thanks.

Yes you can - but it's not very often that you'll hear PGFD slip back into FDMA mode. The dispatches (as well as the response) are always readable, but it's only occasionally you'll hear the rest of the traffic such as activity from the various units.

I have a working setup in FreeScan - I can't get to it now, but I can later tonight

I was listening to 8A1 and 8A2 briefly on a PSR-500 over the weekend so it is possible but it all depends on who is on a given talkgroup. If it's all "in county" units, you won't hear anything - typically it requires a mutual aid unit to be on the talkgroup - even only to listen. So, it will be hit and miss....

Having said that -- LSM/CQPSK will probably keep you from listening outside PG County -- unless you are really lucky.

or have a small beam pointing into PG county - otherwise, from Silver Spring, probably nada...

In any case, here's my FreeScan file. You'll notice I also have some of the FDMA police talkgroups but have yet to hear much on them.

Unzip it first (don't use Explorer - it can and does corrupt files), then put it into your FreeScan file directory...HTH...Mike

Don't forget to change the quick key assignments - I use a 396 here, so it should be usable for a 996T right out of the box
