    Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued.     The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

    For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

    This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Tennessee is building out a Motorola dual band P25 phase2 two slot TDMA system. FCC data base shows the VHF hi and 700mhz sites each will have 3 frequencies. Does this mean there will be one freq used for control channel, with the other two freqs able to handle two conversations each for a total of four conversations going on at once? Or can the freq used for control channel also handle a voice path, for a total of five conversations sharing three freqs at once? Thank you.

The control channel is 12.5 kHz FDMA for all P25 systems, so it takes up the entire bandwidth of the frequency. It's not possible to have a voice path on the control channel.

One frequency dedicated for the control channel, the other frequencies used as two-slot TDMA voice channels, yielding two voice paths per frequency. Three frequencies = 1 CC, 4 voice slots (4 simultaneous conversations)

In TDMA systems like this the control channel will only take up one time slot of one freq leaving the second timeslot on that freq available for a voice path. These sites should have 5 voice paths available. Unless they are doing something special like dedicating one time slot for some data application. 5 voice paths would be the basic config though...

The Phase 2 P25 control channel is backward compatible with Phase 1 systems. There is no difference, and no TDMA is used on the control channel frequency. 3 Freqs would yield 4 talkpaths and 1 FDMA control channel.
