They may have transitioned the ARINC system to an iDen system. ARINC is reportedly slowly switching their 800 MHz trunked systems (which were mostly Motorola Type I) to iDen. There are a few examples from various airports around the country in the RR database.

I flew out of Philly back in February. The control channel was still active, but I got no hits for the 1 1/2 hours I was there.

Hey folks.
I used to monitor the system a fair amount whein I lived in Media but it's beyond my range here in Wilmington. Anyhow, I can hear it from work and will try to run Trunker or something a few nights to log the sysetm activity.

Hello,
Sorry I never got to monitor it, I'm in San Juan PR until tomorrow when I'll fly back to PHL, I'll try to take notice then but I believe Ben has nailed it.

It will likely be depreciated in the dB soon.

Anyone figure anything out? I don't quite understand iDen. Is it like digital or what? I would like to hear my co-workers and their screw-ups from home ;) Wouldn't mind monitoring the freqs down on the ramp. Since Im not special enough to have a radio - I still would like to know what's going on out there.
