Here is a listing of some of the frequencies used by various Taxi Cab Companies in Philadelphia. Cab companies not listed here most likely use leased radios from LTR Trunking System owners. The Sunshine Communications Philadelphia VHF LTR system is home to many of these cabs. I will post confirmed talkgroups for that system (yes, I know they are in the database but I've found ones that aren't) in a different thread. Anyways, here goes.
Crescent Cab
Dispatch: 502.2875
Mobile: 505.2875
Tone: 173.8 PL
Repeater: No
Notes: Mobile transmissions for Crescent Cab do NOT go through a repeater therefore it is neccessary to program both frequencies in order to hear both sides of the conversation. If you can hear the mobile frequency you are near the transmitting unit.
Medallion Radio Cab (dispatches Germantown Cab)
Dispatch: 452.4000
Mobile: 457.4000
Tone: 71.9 PL
Repeater: Yes
Notes: You will hear dispatchers asking drivers to go to a channel 1. I do not know if this channel 1 they refer to is another frequency or a different tone on the same frequency. I have not been able to confirm the existance of a channel 1 other than by what I hear.
All City Taxi
Dispatch and Mobile: 151.5200
Tone: CSQ
Repeater: No
Notes: This is a simplex system with a base mobile setup on the same frequency. Audio is low thus you may have a hard time hearing what is being said on this frequency.
Olde City Taxi Coach Association
This cab company uses a three channel radio system.
Channel 1 (mainly used when a driver needs to speak to a supervisor)
Base Frequency: 860.0125
Mobile Frequency: 815.0125
Tone: 103.8 PL
Repeater: Yes
Channel 2 (used for car to car conversations as well as supervisor to driver chatter)
Base Frequency: 860.5125
Mobile Frequency: 815.5125
Tone: 103.8 PL
Repeater: Yes
Channel 3 (Dispatch, uses a different FCC license as opposed to the one used by Channels 1 and 2)
Base Frequency: 860.6625
Mobile Frequency: 815.6625
Tone: 103.8 PL
Repeater: Yes
Victory Cab Association
This company uses two frequency pairs.
Base Frequency 1: 452.6250
Mobile Frequency 1: 457.6250
Base Frequency 2: 463.3750
Mobile Frequency 2: 468.3750
Tone: 186.2 PL
Repeater: No
Notes: Like Crescent Cab, to monitor this company, you will need both the base and the mobile frequencies to be programmed in order to hear both sides of the conversation. If you can hear the mobile frequency, you are near the transmitting unit. Also note there are other companies that use these frequencies in Philadelphia so you may want to program the PL.
Walsh Cab Company (never seen a cab with the name "Walsh" on it, maybe this company dispatches Yellow Cab?)
Dispatch: 152.3300
Mobile: 157.5900
Tone: 71.9 PL
Repeater: Yes
Notes: Norristown Yellow Cab and Delaware Diamond Cab use the same frequency pair. The reason I believe this maybe Yellow Cab is because there are several Yellow Cab entities licensed this frequency.
I also have frequencies for Liberty Cab and Capitol Dispatch. I've noticed these frequencies are LTR despite the fact that the license for them indicates they are conventional. I have not been able to fully confirm that they operate on the same LTR system but I will list the frequencies according to who they are licensed to.
Liberty Cab
Base/Mobile Pair 1: 855.2625/810.2625
Base/Mobile Pair 2: 855.5125/810.5125 (comes up as repeater 05)
Repeater: Yes
Capital Dispatch
Base/Mobile Pair: 855.5375/810.5375 (comes up as repeater 01)
Repeater: Yes
The following cab companies are believed to operate on LTR systems.
PHL Cab (Sunshine System)
City Cab Company
(Delaware) County Cab Company (Sunshine System)
Chester City Cab Company
New Look Cab Company
Main Line Cab Company
Quaker City Cab Company (Sunshine System)
Philadelphia Coach Cab Dispatch (77 is in the phone number for this company)
Any I missed? I did submit some of the frequencies for inclusion in the database a while back but they have yet to be added.
