Well Philadelpha co. Also have been trying to re tune the system so they have no more than 5 Miles out side of the county the system signal will go . Plus after the First there re doing there system and going to true 9600 Bald IP25 with Full Encryption . Now I hear Philadelpha from Chester Co. So they did not do to well on keeping the signal from getting outside the 5 Mile Mark .

You should be able to track PPD and PFD systems. All zones and districts show up on the (2) simulcast systems and 90% of the traffic is not encrypted.

What scanner are you considering?

im considering the 396xt model by uniden and the 996xt model. my only roadblock now is figuring out what to put in each quikkey group and whatnot for maximum monitoring.

For PPD just put in the city wide groups and tune to the district (which I have them all programmed in but locked out) when you hear an interesting job go out on there.

Fire is a little tougher but I generally do not monitor any FD unless it's really big.

Monitoring from Central Bucks County and picking up Philadelphia Digital TRS 800MHz without a problem. Have both a Uniden BCD996XT and a Radio Shack (GRE) PRO-2096 sharing the same antenna system. I'm probably a good 17 miles (line-of-sight) distance from the Roxborough antenna farm where the transmitter is located.

Lou, Just curious what antenna system you are using. I am just outside of Doylestown Boro and can't get the Philly system. I've tried a number of antennas with the same result. On a clear night I can pick up Newark NJ and Jersey City but don't really want to!

I'm utilizing 65 feet of Times Microwave LMR-400 coax (UHF connectors on both ends) and it's fed to a Antenna Specialist MONR-31 base antenna (model has since been discontinued). This was A/S premier ground plane antenna with a frequency spread rated from 30-800MHz.

ANTENNA SPECIALISTS MODEL MONR31

It wasn't cheap as far as base scanner receive antennas go, but worth every dollar.

Thanks Lou, I am familiar with that antenna, I have it as a mobile although I have not used it in many years due to everything local pretty much being digital. How high is your antenna mounted?
Thanks
