On this unbelievably awesome night in Philadelphia sports history, the Special Events 1 & 2 channels are great listens right now on the Philly Police system. Been especially listening to Special Events 1 with crowd control, I've even heard the police commissioner several times. Luckily nothing too bad going on...some fires, a couple reports of cars overturned and minor injuries to officers.

Philly sports fans uphold tradition.........

We are stuck here at work in South Philly and have had the scanners on since we became the home of the WORLD CHAMPION PHILLIES. Holy cow, I don't think the radio has been quiet for more than 15 seconds since the game ended. Currently listening to a "Package" being moved along I-95 to columbus Blvd by a group of "Outriders"(?) and requests for assistance in the 1400 block of Chestnut for a large group looting stores and pelting Officers with bottles, Highway Patrol and PSP enroute........

So philly is full of people who cannot control themselves because a group of people who they have nothing to do with (except sitting on their butts and watching them make more money than some of then would do in 10-30 years) happen to beat another team of overpaid people?

That's a shame, hoped one city in America would have smart people in it.

I certainly do not condone the behavior exhibited by some fans last night. However, it is foolish to place the blame simply on city residents. Misbehaving people are from all over the region and from out of the area, too.

There were riots on the Millersville University campus and flipped cars in West Chester, PA (both college towns in eastern PA).

Booze makes people do stupid things.

This is hardly the only region the the US to have idiocy displayed after a major sports team wins a championship. It is shameful, but it certainly is not unique.

I was suprised to hear the EOC on T-Band, Special Events 1 & 2 along with PSP Trooper 2 and their mounted units. PPD/PFD 1 & 2 was used for operations inside Citizens Bank Park too.

The Philadelphia Police & Fire Dept. did a good job for the amount of people they had on Broad St. from the Sports Complex up to Center City, and up in the Northeast at Frankford & Cottman.

Every city has this issue when someone wins a championship, maybe not as massive crowds or watched by the media with the close full eye like Philly!!

The Phillies won is great news, watched most of the game and the ending last night, Just wait if the EAGLES win the Super Bowl (or if they get that far) this year. That will be a all night celebration around the region!!!

Lehigh Valley had a few incidents around 0200 PSP Fogelsville had a call about group of people in a development running up and down the street yelling and screaming Phillies but nothing else really.

Parade traffic as of now.

T-Band (Parade Traffic-Traffic Unit & Highway Patrol)
Special Events 1 (Crowd Control)
City Events 1 (City Hall-Municipal Guards, Public Property)

CH6 TV Media van needs a jump or it will not be able to televise the parade.

check out news frequinces and traffic also reporting patco being over run

SEPTA's Regional Rail Division was swamped with people today. There had to be hundreds of people boarding the R6 here in Norristown throughout the morning.

I've been monitoring SEPTA's trunked system and the regional rail freqs and the Media trolleys (Rt. 101) were reporting that they were bypassing stations with over 100 people on the platform east of Media. The Rt. 100 Norristown trolley has been moving overflow from the regional rail out of Norristown.

All SEPTA train service into the city is suspended as of 1 PM so that they can stage all available equipment to get people back out of the city after the festivities.

At one point, one of the news choppers reported back to the news desk that there were at least nine helos operating over Center City. Don't know who they all were. I've heard Chopper 3, Chopper 6, Chopper 10, SkyFOX, PPD Tac Air 1 (and maybe 2?), and PSP Trooper 2. Apparently there could be a few others, too.

The news estimated that there are at least 100,000 people filling CB Park (Phillies stadium) and the Linc (Eagles stadium). Add to that the million plus people on the parade route and that's a lot of bodies!

I can't pick up the Philly trunked systems at work, so I have been relying on the news frequencies and SEPTA's radio traffic to keep tabs on what's up.
