Toured pfd alarm. Learned a few items of interest:
7 dispatchers on duty with a capability to have up to 21 including supervisors.
They have the capability to add all kinds of channels and talkgroups on the fly from a bank of APX radios in the comm closet.
Average about 10000 calls a day
They have outgrown the present center and are planning to add a additional dispatch center in a new building sometime in the future.
VHF is not going anywhere soon. They have ditched the xts radios for APX vhf/800 radios and short of changing city fire code to require in building repeaters, hazard zone traffic will remain on VHF.
