Phoenix AZ Area Questions

I just reviewed the database and recent posts. I was wondering -

1. Are the Sky Harbor fire and police units using 800 Mhz radios?

2. On the Regional trunked system, just 1 TG of the Mesa PD shows as encrypted. I thought that most of the Mesa & Phoenix police talkgroups were encrypted?

3. Phoenix Fire will be on VHF to 2011. Right?

4. What does Phoenix Fire use Ch2 and Ch3 for these days? The database says "East Phoenix" and "West Phoenix". Could someone elaborate on that?

1. Phx Aviation PD uses 800Mhz at Sky Harbor ENC. Fire uses VHF Ch2 or Ch8 for response.

2. A majority of Mesa/Phx is ENC. Patrols are in the clear

3. No idea when the change will occur. 2011 is the expected date. It could be sooner if logistics are worked out???

4. Phx Fire uses Ch2 for airport alerts & violent incidents ex. gun shot wounds, assaults, stabbings. Ch3 is used for staging (usually a 1st Alarm & above) & landing zones. Ch4 is also used for landing zones. Also mutual aid in general/wildland fires & with Gila River when Ch8 is not used.

Many of us have sent "correct" information to the database. The information submitted is usually changed after a short while.
