Lately I have been hearing a lot of Phoenix Fire being handled on an 'AN' channel as oppised to a K Deck. When did that start?

Also, are Phoenix PD's Charlie Deck channels monitorable? Twice today I've been listening to something good only to have traffic switched to Charlie deck 14 and 13 respectively

The "AN" Channels are basically the same "A" VHF channels PFD have been using for years. There were only a few minor changes to conform with the FCC mandate for narrow banding hence the "N" being added to the "A", The channel changes are listed in the data base.

And Phoenix PD C-2 through C-9, just like A-2 through A-9, and B-2 through B-9, are monitorable. The rest of A/B/C are encrypted.

Okay, thanks. I didn't even notice there had been changes in the database so I was confused when I started hearing "AN" all the time.

Thank you. I'm not sure I've ever picked up any C channels, just A and B. Bummer both things I was listening to yesterday went to encrypted channels. I never did get to find out if they finally pulled over the guy who stole an SUV from a parking lot with 4 marked police cars in the same lot (apparently unoccupied, though)
