Wondering if anyone has figured out the new "A deck" ch13 and ch14 for Chandler operations. I tried the old blue decks, but they dont seem to be working anymore. Anyone know the new frequencies? I know someone at the Alarm room, but he doesn't have them listed in their books yet.

Thanks... I had ch 13 in there as the old BD but what is the .13 frequency? It wasn't the old BD12, right? I could also be too far away to be hitting the tower.

From north-central Phoenix I found the following tones in use:

CH 13 - 154.43 - 100.0 (distant) 162.2 (distant) and 136.5 (closeby)
CH 14 - 114.8 (very distant) and 100.0 (closeby)

My vhf antenna is up pretty high so I can get signals from quite a distance by the way on my BCT15.

All different than the standard PFD tone used for their frequencies normally.

Thoughts?

Well my antenna isnt very high (stupid HOA rules) and the scanner I am currently using does not support PL/CTCSS tones... its a RS Pro2051... I do have a 996T...so I will try and input them in there

In my location without tones and with a high-up antenna I get some intermod opening squelch with any scanner, so I am big on the tones. My vhf antenna is more than 40' of the ground with a mast guyed on two levels, so if I had a HOA they would be coming with torches to hang me by now, lol.

haha ya.... does anyone know when they are making the switch to digital? I like listening to the dispatch simulcast...its a little muffled and scratchy..but I would imagine that because its a simulcast and isn't being directly transmitted off of the digital tower. I can't wait to be able to hear EVERYTHING and not just the dispatcher at Alarm.

As everyone has heard, digital has issues on a fireground. The noise going on in those situations does bad things with digital radio I hear, a problem not as bad on analog. Also once inside of a structure, the signal isn't as good and things start breaking up and voices go "digital". Being trapped inside of a burning structure with a non-working radio is a bad deal, obviously, and the trust their vhf rigs. This is a classic case of re-invention of the wheel gone bad. It's paid for, so they are being pushed to make use of the new system, despite the fact that most don't want it.

So they have been working on vehicular repeaters that allow the fire vehicles to create their own little sub-network at the scene, which works much better, but isn't perfected yet. I have also heard talk of them using 700mhz when they go live with the system.

I sold a scanner to a guy a while back who is actually working on the system and he told me that it will be years before the whole department uses it for everything, maybe many years, and not to look for it happening any time soon.

So in the meantime I have my vhf groundplane up high, connected to a good radio. I can hear the mobile radios for many miles, but to hear the portables working a fire scene they need to be less than 1 1/2 miles away, if they are inside of a burning structure. I too would love to hear everything, but it looks like it is going to be a while.
