Does anyone out there know if and when Phoenix Arizona is going digital? I just bought a Pro-95 and Pro-2052 for a base. These are not digital. Can anyone recommend any digitals?
Thank you,
Terrie

Ummm, I thought that the migration started last year sometime. See the Phoenix Metro and the Phoenix City TRS pages for more details.

You might also want to look through the Arizona Forum pages for some threads on this. There are some pretty active scanner-heads there in Phoenix so they might have a better idea what you can do. I suspect not much as I believe the public safety stuff on the digital system is going to be encrypted 100% of the time.

You might get lucky on the EMS/Fire side of Public Safety, but from whats been said over and again is that all law enforcement except maybe mutual aid stuff will be full time encrypted,....

What exactly does full time encrypted,.... Mean? Will a PRO-96 from Radio Shack do the trick?
Thank you,

Encrypted means you can listen to it. No scanner is capable of listening to encrypted transmissions, that is why they are encrypted.

Dont you mean they cant listen to it. When is this going to take place does anyone know? I think as we are talking alot of it has already taken place????
Thank you,
Terrie
I am new to all this (as if you cant tell :?) and appreciate all your help. I just dont want to spend alot of money on something that is going to take place here shortly. If I go out and buy the PRO-96 how will I know if the CPU is 1.3?

Yes, I meant you can not. Looks like my fingers didn't keep up with my brain that time.

When is it going to happen? It already has happend. Now understand, I am talking about Phoenix. I am unclear about Maricopa Co.'s system. You really need to get with some local people first beore you spend $500. Take a look through the AZ forum and maybe PM someone there.
