AirScan, you really need to invest in a digital scanner. That's just the way it is.
Even if you can't afford a digital scanner right now, look through the database to see who is on the digital systems. Then, ask about specific users if you don't see them.

Look for a used GRE PSR-500/600/800 or a used Uniden 396/996T or XT. New models aren't going to be cheap. Even the used ones above will probably set you back $250-300 minimum. That's just the way it is. But I understand. I can't afford any scanner right now. I lucked out being able to buy my PSR-500 when I did.

AirScan, I can't send you a private message for whatever reason via the forums but if you give me your email I will give you a lead on digital handheld before it gets snagged up for a steal. I almost bought it myself today.

Somewhere in this room. Right now, you're very col
Another alternative is a pair of SDR dongles, Unitrunker and DSDPlus. They aren't as easy to set up as a "punch in your zip code" scanner like the 436, but with time and patience, you can set up your own homebrew digital "scanner" for about $40 + your own computer. If you're interested, start reading up on them over in the SDR forum. I've used such a set up to monitor the RWC and once I got it dialed in, it worked damn near as well as my $500 436HP does.
