Phoenix System CC on VHF ???

I've got a new one for everyone... Lindsay, any ideas?


I ran across two VHF frequency at 165.5250 and 165.6400 that identify themselves as part of the new Phoenix/Mesa system. I thought maybe they were images in the Pro96 but they have no coresponding 800Mhz frequency with the same T0106/T0107 information that I can find and attenuation makes very little difference. They can be picked up on several different brands and types of receivers. The Pro96 is the only thing I have right now that will display the system information. The Phoenix/Mesa system users have XTS5000 800Mhz series radios and obviously have no VHF abilities. So why would these frequencies exist? It was suggested to me that perhaps they were part of the Nationwide Federal System being setup but I would think they would have a completly different System ID than one already in use here.

Wow, this is interesting.

They might be adding some zone controllers for Federal Users to utilize the area system without having to purchase 800 Mhz radios - essentially allowing them to use their existing XTS/ASTRO VHF radios.

We know that Motorola zone controllers can be tied together between different bands, just like they are doing in DC.

This is an interesting development, and will be one of first cross-band true Project-25 deployments.
