Phoenix Transit Authority was recently issued a license for a 3 site 800mhz DMR system.

The South Mountain Site recently came online. I have not heard anything on it other than the control channel.

Con+ Site 506-1
Neighbor Sites 2, 3
851.9625 SL1 CC7 control channel

Here is the license and freqs. I should be able to receive the Thompson Peak site, but I have not heard any activity yet. I am out of range on White Tanks if anyone can check those frequencies for activity.

Who is the Phoenix Transit Authority?

Currently enjoy listening to both the Valley Metro buses on UHF FM and Valley Metro Light Rail on P25. I wonder who the Phoenix Transit Authority is? Once it's operational, it might be another reason why I "need" a DMR-capable scanner.

I've been poking around the weebz to no avail, I too was curious as to who/what the PTA is or will be. Phoenix Transit Security/Municipal Security, etc are all on RWC, maybe the city is providing a radio system for the private security (contracted) company that serves the light rail?

Is it possible that they'll be switching from the current UHF channels to this new system?

This system has made some progress since last I monitored it. The control channels on the Thompson Peak and White Tanks sites are active.

Thompson Peak Site
Site 506-2 CC7 NL 1 3
852.2875 SL1 CC7 control channel

White Tanks is site 3. I monitored it mobile a few days ago, but I did not take note of the control channel frequency or the color code. Can anyone in the West Valley check the frequencies listed earlier in the thread.

I have not monitored any voice traffic yet. I'll let DSD sit on the South Mountain site for a few days to see if I can get the LCN's for the voice frequencies.

I have been waiting for this system to be active with voice traffic for over a year. It seem that in the last few days, the South Mountain Site has had some activity. Yesterday I got enough traffic for LCN Finder to map out all the LCNs. Today I had my radio recording and caught many test transmissions on talkgroups 1, 3, and 4.

The Thompson Peak site has not been active enough for me to map out the LCNs, and I cannot receive the White Tanks site from my house.

If you have a DMR scanner, help us identify LCNs and talkgroups as the system becomes more active.

While we wait to figure out this new system, are light rail ops on simulcast B or simulcast A?

Simulcast B. The North Mtn., South Mtn., and Thompson Peak IR sites also carry all of the light rail talkgroups.

TG 1023 on the South Mountain Site came up today at around 1pm according to my log, 2 PTT's from 2 RIDs (501 & 8024) no other activity on there other than that all day.

I heard some activity yesterday, so I left a radio recording today. There was a fair amount of activity. Lots of radio checks and talk of installs in busses and vehicles.

Keyups on 1002 and 1029
Radio checks on 1005, 1017, 1018, and 1023

Unit ID 501 Sounds like a Console and identified as “OCC”

Having worked with security personnel on the light rail and of course observing the radio system.. OCC callsign and all sounds like they are getting away from the RWC and going to their own system

Managed to actually listen to comms a short while ago... Bus 6567 talking with base on talk-group 1023. The RID for the bus was (wait for it...) 6567 said they were testing the new radio. Base RID was 501. All traffic was on the South Mountain site, haven't heard anything off the other sites.
