Phoenix VHF still on?

I'll be in town for business in a couple of weeks and am considering bringing my 246. Is Phoenix VHF for PD and FD still alive?

LOL, not only are they still active, they work better than the DTRS! :lol:

Is VHF still active? Seems like it is since I can't find a definitive post saying its been shut down.

I talked with someone on the Phoenix FD a few weeks ago. They still use their VHF system because of problems with the 800. Supposedly the cops are having issues too.

Phx Police is only active on VHF using their hot channels VHF 1-3. The precinct channels 4-9 are no longer active on VHF & can only be heard on 800mhz. UHF freqs are no longer active.

Phx Fire is not going to 800mhz, atleast not anytime soon. The patchs for Phx FD talkgroups are present on 800mhz but are mainly used & active "only" when a radio is on by someone in dispatch, maybe a BC or Mesa FD (since Mesa is for the most part or has 100% switched to 800mhz) but still simulcasted onto VHF. Mesa FD talkgroups do sometimes simulcast onto Sys B.

When a Mesa FD / Gilbert FD unit is on m/a into Tempe, Scottsdale or Chandler you can hear their portable or mobile radio as well as the dispatcher since that user is on 800Mhz & patched to VHF.
