In the last twelve months, I purchased a PhoneMate 2970 and a 2870 - Answering Machine with Satellite Extension. They were new in box both times.
The problem is, soon as I plugged them in, the tape NEVER started rwinding like the manuals said it would. I even tried to record a mesage, but 5 seconds in it says "The message tape is full." Then when I play the recording back, I do not hear anything but silence.
On both models, I could record the greeting so it's clearly not the MIC. Any ideas or workarounds how to get them fixed ? I'd like to get at least one to work.
