Well, I've been scanning away on this thing for a couple weeks now and so far here's the big list o' talkgroups I've found and identified. (This list does not include the encrypted stuff since there's no point in programming them in anyway.)

All the other good stuff is encrypted here too. The tgid's marked with an * indicate that these may now be encrypted, but they were in the clear when I monitored them.

That's it so far. I also heard traffic on 201 and 203 - not sure what they were, sounded like radio techs. Who knows. I'm also waiting eagerly for Phoenix Fire to start simulcasting on this thing - if anyone has or gets any TGID info for PFD please post, thanks!

Keep us updated. Kinda sad that I am no longer living in Phoenix. PFD must be one of the most awesome fire departments in the world and the new TRS will make listening to them even better.

Update: It would appear that at least ONE of the problems the users of this system are reporting is directly related to the simulcasting on the old VHF channels.

For example:

A PD officer is issued a digital HT and is assigned to a vehicle with an analog radio. If the analog radio and digital HT are tuned to the same "channel" then when the officer radios out on the analog radio, his voice will be simulcasted over the digital system with about a 1/4 to 1/2 second delay. This causes an echo effect to occur, which is in turn, picked up by the mic on the analog radio and the whole cycle repeats. In addition, the echo will get louder and louder each time until the officer is totally unintelligible (usually within 20 seconds or less).

So what is perceived to be a "problem with the new system" is simply nothing more than an officer training issue (turn down the HT when in the car). Once the transition is complete and simulcating is no longer needed, this "problem" will automatically be eliminated.

I'd be interested in hearing the other complaints users are reporting, if anyone knows them. I'd like to know just how good or bad they feel the new system is. There were comments posted in this forum a couple months back that hinted at this, but no specifics were given.

I'll be sure to post any TG updates here as warranted. I haven't had much time to monitor this week, but so far nothing new.

The delay is just the way the digital stuff works. If you are talking on a channel and have someone about 5' from you you will here your self come over about 1 -2 second later on total digital. It is funny listening to someone talking and hearing themselves. They will start to stutter. It takes a little getting used to. A digital radio on and analog system is not as bad but there is still a delay.

I am going to buy the Pro-96 scanner and was wondering the numbers you just posted do I just press those numbers into the scanner like they are?

Don't know for sure how they will do it, whether moving Hot to B (which is already UNencrypted), or whether they will somehow make C-Deck UNencrypted.

However they decide to do it, the PIO has said Hot traffic will be "in the clear" by the time the unencrypted VHF patches are taken down.

WEST COUNTY FIRE AGENCIES

How far west will the dtrs system cover at buildout?
Do buckeye and the other west county fire agencies intend to migrate or stay on vhf. I ask because I see no site for White tanks.

No clue. Fire is still a long way off. There is an ongoing discussion on the ArizonaScanner list at Yahoo!Groups of fire's dissatisfaction with the new system, so much so that they are apparently revising their plans. Unknown what will come of it.

Outside Phoenix, each fire agency pays its own way. If Buckeye wants to move to 800 (or wherever Phoenix moves), they have to pony up for an extension of the system, from what we've heard (although they could just add a couple of simple 800 conventional repeaters, as Daisy Mountain plans/planned to do).
