Hi all, I just recently put up a TRAM 1410 discone. on frequencies into 400 MHz range I get sort of a pulsing static sound. Any idea why ?

Does it sound like this by chance? (bursts are often spaced about 2 to 3 seconds apart) might be a CAP+ rest channel. Have you looked up any of your findings to see if documented in the RRDB? Care to give us specific example frequencies?

FCC query search can be used to look up what hasn't been RRDB documented

If you have a scanner in addition to what you are using, turn it off. Scanners can radiate signals which can cause problems like that.
Two way radios too. I have a Kenwood TM241a that whenever I stretch the speaker mic cable out straight throws a really strong carrier in the 121 MHz range and will set off the close call on all my scanners.
