In all honesty.... I don't see how you're still alive...

I wouldn't dare take it down by myself... Call your power company..

You........(Shakes head and walks away)

moron? :) Wow. We need to know his local news channel/paper so when he isn't active on the forums we can see if he got electrocuted.

I've done some pretty pathetic things from time to time to get an antenna up so I have no room to talk, but damn that's scary.

Mike

PS: I must admit that sure was a handy spot for the antenna though.

That's insane..... I mean it's nuts....

I'm sorry we all keep bashing and flaming you, because you've learned your lesson, that this is a bad idea. But dude, you need to lay down tonight and pray.. You don't do stuff like that and come down alive..

Call your power company tomorrow. Tell them you screwed up, and get a lineman out there to remove it. You couldn't pay me $$$ to put a wrench on that thing..

Actually, we don't. He's recieved his lesson, and he's been flamed enough.

He knows how to fix it, and not to do this anymore.

I spent 2 years working for an electrician and I spent a lot of time working around the 240v unfused feeds to the house. It takes a lot to break through that insulation on those wires and with that antenna where it is located I can see why he survived. I have seen far worse. I suggest you remove it and attach it to that vent pipe and run a ground wire from the sewer vent to the weather head. Other than the questionable choice of location its a very good looking install.

You wont get Shocked up there . Everything is Extremely insulated . My god its no big deal at all a Friend and I changed my electrical service in a few hours. Of course it helps if you know what your doing, but you wont get hurt up there by those lines unless there is a problem up there already and if there was You would already know about it .There is no reason to get help from a lineman to remove it, that's just silly. I wouldn't recommend Swinging off them however. One thing for sure it does look like a Lightning Magnet.

Ya Wink is right. No need to call a lineman, a person who has taken hours upon hrs of training and wears safty gear like there is no tommarow just to connect a meter. Don't worry those high voltage lines won't hurt. YOU WILL NEVER KNOW IT. R.I.P.

I dont know what you are all crying about. He doesnt need the power company to take that down. It's not the best place for an antenna, its not NEC legal. I am a residential electrician and I work on those services all the time, as long as you dont go hanging on to the lines you'll be fine taking it down. I suggest like others said and move it to another location.

No need for lots of safety gear to connect a meter, I do it all the time with safety goggles and a pair of gloves. It's all a matter of common sense and field experience.
