sunstar is dispatched on their own channel but soon as that happens they come over to the fire tac channel that the incident is working on.. i guess you are asking me how does the fire/rescue get there calls.. all 70 stations get their calls off of i dispatch channel called 1-alpha when they are dispatched they are assigned a tac channel to work on..
But the only tones I hear are a real quick chirp... are those the alert tones for the stations?

FYI you can go to the cad page and see which units are assigned, just an example up here in Orange county, I worked fas a dispatcher for Both Rural Metro ambulance and Orange County Fire Rescue, Each station has a printer as well as station tones, rural metro HQ on old winter garden road has a printer in the communications center, when a call requiring rural metro was being dispatched a generic rma unit was assigned to the call, this in turn would send the call to rural metro over the printer, we would enter the info into the CAD from that printout, now we were talking about setting up a direct feed into the Rural metro cad bypassing the printer but i do not know how far that went.

now this is just Orange county, but sunstar has been an institution in Pinellas for a long time, i have a couple of friends who worked there, but this might help some people know how some comm centers work

so the little blurp of tones is enough to set off the station pagers? up here we're still using the motorola quick call format, 1 sec/3 sec tones. The short tones are interesting though.
