Pineville is a Mot Type II. If you have the control channels that are showing in the database loaded, I can't explain the issue. It's not the busiest of TRS's and it certainly isn't very strong, but if your within 10 miles you should be hearing traffic. Where are you trying to monitor from?

Undisclosed urban location.
Trust me the Pineville system must be operating on 2 watts.
I live in southern Meck. Co. close to Whitehall and picking them up is still iffy.

Maybe a set of Captain Midnight Space Cadet walkie talkies I had as a kid might work better.

RULE OF THUMB ... If you cannot hear an active control channel while advancing through the programmed frequencies in "manual" mode, you will not be able to trunk-track the system, either.

If you don't hear the control channel data ...

- check and make sure all the site frequencies are programmed in
- try a different antenna
- try listening from a different location
- make sure none of the site frequencies are locked out
- make sure you have the trunking type set for both the frequencies and the bank
- if in "scan" mode, make sure you have some talkgroups programmed in the scanner

(some of the above only apply to certain scanners)
