Nope, not a typo, he was on 6150 kHz. This pirate moves around and hits none traditional pirate freqs, often in a BC band. He has worked in the more traditional (for US pirates) 69XX kHz range a few times, but not often. He signed off at 0241 UTC this round.

And I saw a couple of logs reported from the West Coast in the DXLD Yahoo group

How can they be heard over the 50 to 100kw regulars? Something is amiss here.

Not sure what you mean by “amiss”. He finds an unused freq between the BC stations and goes at it. For example when he was on 6150 he was between Radio Romania Int on 6145 kHz, and Voice of Iran on 6155 kHz. Neither of those stations were particularly strong on the west coast at that time, so his signal fit right in. Since he appears to be using a ham rig his audio is not quite as wide as the BC stations. His audio is about 3 kHz wide, maybe a bit over that.

Not at all - it's exactly the same techniques used to find the Columbian, Mexican or Brazilian stations on 49 meters during the 'height' of the hi power stuff time-wise, and Token touched on it. You become familiar with the band during a particular slice of time, and make like a gopher and dig. Eventually you will be able to identify most of the big-power stations on their regular freqs - this makes the stations like this one stand out like a sore thumb (although I will say that putting a pirate in the middle of 49m during the evening is either crazy or smart - it's called hiding in plain sight).

49m is quite a challenge to DX during the 2200-0200 time block here on the East Coast because that's when the Euros and Cuba tend to dominate. But even then you can find stuff - heck I think there's still some Africans around the 2200-0000 time frame.

Is this another one of the wanna be disc jockeys or someone with REAL programming content? Certainly, it would be nearly impossible to get any sort of following by frequency hopping all over the place.

Did you hear the audio clips kilokat7 posted? That is this guys programming content, he is very consistent about his format. Maybe not my cup of tea but he obviously feels strongly enough about his message to get it out this way.

Despite hopping around he obviously is being reported regularly. I have no idea how the ratio of his transmissions vs reporting is. I don’t look for him often, I spend little time inside the SWBC bands, but when queued to his activities I have always been able to hear him.

Pirate YHWH, 21450 kHz, USB, 03/29/2014, 1830 UTC

Pirate radio station YHWH, with his standard message, on 21450 kHz, USB mode, 1830 UTC, March 29, 2014.

YHWH is in USB this time. It almsot seems he uses AM when near BC bands, and uses USB when near ham bands.

Pirate YHWH, 17490 kHz, AM, 4/18/2014, 1516 UTC

Pirate radio station YHWH, Yahweh, on 17490 kHz UTC. The station came on air at 1516 UTC, but I did not notice it until 1531 UTC. About S9 here, and being reported across the US, not heard on European remotes that I can tell.

This pirate is located in the US south west.

(edit) Station signed off at 1621 UTC.

Interesting pirate call-sign. Do you think the broadcast is make from in-country or out-of-county?
