Hello all,
Just curious after the incident Saturday, who dispatches for Pittsburgh Bureau of Police? Does the City have its own dispatchers and operators, or are they dispatched through the County 911 Center?
Reason I ask, is because I'm 100 miles north in Erie, PA. At one time our City police department dispatched in house, and those duties were eventually transferred to the County 911 Center when they became active in 2010, and it was highly disliked for years by the officers.
If PBP is dispatched through their County 911, did they have their own in-house dispatchers at one point in time?
Also on a side note, are there any long term plans to transition over to P25 and/or digital? Our County is in the near final stages of implementing their new P25 digital simulcast trunking system. I'm surprised a city as large as Pittsburgh is still running analog, but I'm not complaining though either.
Thanks all for the insight!
PS: thought I posted this in the Pennsylvania Forum, so I apologize.
