Hi everyone. I recently purchased a PSR-600 GRE scanner and have managed thus far to program Conventional frequencies, Edacs and Motorola trunked systems.
My problem is with the State Police Frequencies. I am not quite sure what the control frequency is for this particular area. I have checked out the Virginia Statewide Agencies Wiki and entered a few of the frequencies listed there, with not luck.

I am using PSRedit500 for the control software. Any info would be appreciated.

Anyone, anyone at all

I would have thought with all the activity on here, SOMEONE would have known more about this stuff than I do and could have helped out with an answer.

I guess I was wrong.

In Campbell Co. Long Mt. tower (Rustburg) is what you should be picking up on freq. 161.8750, and for Pittsylvania Co. you should be able to pick up Halifax tower on 151.2725 depending on what part of the county you are in. Both of these towers are what you can call Division border towers and sould carry both Div-3 for Campbell and Div-6 for Pittsylvania. Look in the Database for the TG's for your area.

While you are at it try searching between 151.000 and 153.000 and then between 158.000 and 162.000 and let us know if you find any control freqs. There should be one for White Oak Mt. that will cover most all of Pittsylvania by itself and then some.

Hopes this helps.

Hi Falcon, and thanks for the reply.

I have done a search and I did come up with 3 frequencies that I actually heard people talking on. However, I have no idea who they were other than voices. The frequencies were:
159.1500, 159.3675, and 159,2175 respectfully.

I am so new at this stuff, I probably would not know what a control frequency sounds like. I did put the 3 frequencies above in my Trunking system as P25 Auto. I have not hear a thing on them since doing that, so I know something is wrong.

I have the TG's for my area entered, and no activity. I will put the frequencies you suggested in my TSYS frequency area and see what happens.

Thanks again.

159.3675 Warsaw (Richmond County) Alt CC
159,2175 Site 219 VC and Fairfax VC

My bet is you've identified site 219 in your county. Could be Danville, Chatham or Gretna.

None the less program 152.50250 and 152.77250 in STARS TSYS and use Division 6 TGRP objects.

After setting up and with scanner running, run Pro96Com on that TSYS to determine other tower details.

Thanks for the information fmon, it is now working.

"After setting up and with scanner running, run Pro96Com on that TSYS to determine other tower details."

Not sure what the Pro96Com is however...?

Thank you for the info, I very much appreciate it.

Thanks again Frank. I just downloaded the Pro96Com and will see what I can do.

Sorry for all the questions but I have another.
I did a "Search Objects" search today and found 152.5475 and 152.7875 Digital frequencies. When I find them how do I go about populating the Talk groups within the frequencies? using Pro96Com?

Pro96com is a diagnostic program and can not be used for scanner programming. It will only display frequencies and talkgroup numbers

Ah, thanks for the info rich.

After finding a digital frequency, how does one go about finding the appropriate Talk Groups associated with the frequency(s) found? Someone had to make the chart showing the talk groups and their designated titles.

I really appreciate everyone helping out here. I have searched and searched the internet for answers to about a million questions. Some I have found, most I haven't. So believe me I appreciate all the input I can get.

Those three plus these of previous post 159.1500, 159.3675, and 159,2175 could very well be part of your current tower (219?). Pro96Com will tell. Again, depending on your location me thinks you've found us a correct tower name.

The tower active control frequency (CC) finds the voice frequency (VC) to match with the user Talk Group (TGRP) for communications. If you have the scanner settings to read VC during coms, it will show on second display line as in screen shot.

A Group Wildcard in STARS TSYS will reveal new TGRP ID's.
Pro96Com will also present all user ID's based on programmed CC's. And in this scanner, one can hear and watch scanner display at the same time.

Sounds great Frank, I will give this a shot this evening. I fired up the Pro96Com yesterday, but for some reason, was not communicating with scaner. Most probably a port issue on the computer, will investigate.

Anyone else monitoring this please feel free to ask questions, and don't feel like you're intruding in on conversation.

Sometimes the comm port issue is half the battle.

You may, where you are located, be getting Nelson County on 159.150 if what you are hearing is regular FM and not P25 digital. They are on top of Wintergreen and get out into Lynchburg really well. You will know because they say "Nelson to xxx" all the time. It might make for some interference with the STARS on 159.150.

Good Luck, and welcome to RR.

Pro96com and audio on the Uniden 996XT

I discovered using either headphones or small speakers with a compatible male connector to the scanner's chassis head phone/earphone jack and audio gain increased low level acceptable audio can be heard concurrently when Pro96com is running. It also should work on the 396XT with a compatible setup.

Well I did fire up Pro96Com, managed to get it to work 1 time, then nothing. I have written Michael asking him if he may have an idea as to what the problem is, because I have come up empty. Keeping fingers crossed.

Mark
In the Pro96Com folder is an excellent 44 page help pdf.
