In Sarasota County the Fire Department Dispatches their volunteers on the old City FD High band repeater. Does anyone know the "PL" tone for this repeater?

I'll take my frequency with a side of PL, please

What do you need the PL tones for. Most scanners are CSQ and you don't need PL tones to monitor a frequency.

Actually, most scanners today DO allow you to enter PL tones (not all, but most). IMHO, it's foolish for a serious scanner enthusiast to buy a scanner that doesn't accept them.

I have a PL on nearly every frequency I have in my scanners. I have them in my mobile scanners because I travel the state, and since many different localities in the state will share the same freq, it allows me to know exactly who I'm listening to (along with the aid of alpha-tags). At home, I have my antenna at about 45', so I have to opportunity to monitor many different jurisdictions. The PL's help make sure that when I want to listen to XYZ Fire Department on a given frequency, I'm not acutally picking up ABC Police Department.

Interesting. I learned something new today. Thank you. What scanner do you have? Does the pro-94 or pro-95 accept PL tones do you know?

My shack, both mobile and at home, is graced with a lot of Uniden products. I have a 780XLT, 250D, two 796D's, and a 895XLT, all of which take PL's. My non-PL stuff includes a RS Pro-2006, RS Pro-2066, and an old-school Uniden BC200XLT.

I'm afraid that I'm not familiar with the Pro-94's and Pro-95's ability to take PL's, but I'm sure that there are many, many folks on this board that could answer that for you!! :D

I'll give myself the computer geeky answer to this question....RTFM (read the f***ing manual) lol. I have not delt with uniden products. I used to work at radioshack and got hung on the Pro-XX series.

No, the PRO-93 and PRO-95 do not make use of P/L tones. The old PRO-92 does, as well as the newer PRO-96.
