A few months ago I bought a Uniden 346xt from a reputable eBay seller, which was refurbished. There was a sticker on it that said the unit was refurbished in Canada. It has worked perfect until a week ago.
On Canada Day, I was at a BBQ, left my scanner in the car. Couple hours go by, I get in my car drive, scanner picks up Chatham-Kent Fire test pages at 6pm. Go back to the BBQ, leav scanner in the car again. Couple hours later, I go home. While driving the scanner lights up, but thee is now sound. The display shows a transmission on Fire 3.
The speaker on the scanner doesn't seem to be working. I am using the earphone jack with speakers to listen to the scanner currently. However, sometimes the speaker magically starts to work for a few seconds.
I contacted Uniden, and they said that their scanners are refurbished in Texas, not Canada, so they can't do anything about the issue.
I am woundering if there are any places near Chatham, or anyone on the forum, has the ability to find out what the issue is, if it can be repaired, and how much. If it costs too much, I'll just have to buy a new scanner.
Thanks for any input.
