Plane crash in West Memphis 9/22

Misubishi MU-2 twin turbo-prop aircraft went down approx. 2 miles north of West Memphis Municipal Airport at approx. 8 pm.

Plane took off to the north, possibly striking powerline, turned around to return to airport and crashed into a piece of earth moving equipment. Locaion is on Red Cross Rd. near new Hino truck plant being built.

1 fatality known - no names released. McNeely Air Charter operates 3 of these aicraft out of West Memphis.

Lots of traffic on the West Memphis & Marion police & fire frequencies, also Crittenden Co. Search & Rescue active as they secured the scene during the night prior to FAA making the scene this morning.

That's the area my all of my family on my Dad's side lives in.. All over there... Newport, Weldon, Mccory, New Agusta and just spread all over....

I was up there during the evacuation for KATRINA and I had all of those freqs in my scanner listening to them non-stop....
