AP-TN--Landing Gear Mishap,0131 Private plan lands at Chattanooga
with gear up; pilot unhurt Eds: APNewsNow.
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) - A private plane landed on a runway
at Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport with the landing gear up and the
pilot walked away unhurt.
FAA spokeswoman Kathleen Bergen says the pilot was alone and
was not injured in the incident at 11:41 a.m. Monday. Flights at the
airport resumed about 1 p.m.
Bergen said that as the plane approached, a controller
repeatedly told the pilot that the landing gear was not in place but
the pilot of the Cessna "did not acknowledge and landed gear up."
Airport authority spokeswoman Christina Siebold said the pilot
reported that a green light in the plane showed the landing gear was
down. She said there was an apparent equipment malfunction.
There was no fire but two commercial flights were slightly delayed.

FYI... according to AP Wire Story (below), FAA Flight Controller was trying to tell pilot he was coming in without a nose gear. Pilot either didn't hear... or ignored Flight Control.

Strongly suspect there will be some pretty intense follow-up investigation of this incident, and/or pilot.

Well, as I was told many moons ago, that was a good landing. Any landing you can walk away from is a good landing, no matter what the plane looks like.

123, I also live in the chattanooga area not too far from the airport, right on the approach path as a matter of fact, however I really dont pick up air bands like i should be I dont think, of course it could be the 800 antenna im using on the old pro 92? my question is have the kcha frequencies changed? the ones I have programmed are the ones I got from the scanchattanooga website, thanks, and good scanning

From an old panel done by the late Bob Steven's 'I was there' in Air Force Magazine.

Pilot to investigation board after gear up landing.

"No sir, I couldn't hear the tower on the radio. The (gear up) alarm in the cockpit was drowning them out."

A green light even though the gear was up? That's VERY unusual. Interesting that the news clip doesn't quite jive with the text of the article the OP quoted.
