I was listening to the medical dispatch for Plano, and I heard an annoucment that I believe said "Medical Unit Resource Alert, all medical unit return to....." and I didn't catch the last part.

Does anyone have any idea what was being announced and it's meaning?

Thanks in advance.

Often this indicates that the number of available medics (ambulances) has fallen below what would allow their maximum response times. Since several medics may be in training and/or doing resupply tasks the request is to have them free themselves up ASAP and return to service to prevent long response times due to having mutual aid companies respond to calls.

"... all med units return to service as soon as possible"

Med Unit Overload means the city is down to 1 or 2 available MICUs. Medics are asked to report back in service at the hospital after patient transfer but before the paper work is finished. Also, med units may not transport outside the city during overload unless approved by at Battalion Chief. In the event that all MICUs are unavailable, PSC will call for a mutual aid MICU from a neighboring city.
