I guess Plano Police and/or Fire are Experimenting with Text to Voice Dispatching. They have been Testing on Fire-10 MCP AUX. a sad computer Generated voice comes accross the air. TEST TEST TEST MEDIC 174 INJURED PERSON 1600 E AVE K REFFER TO MDC FOR CALL DETAILS TEST TEST TEST.

It sounds very Un-orthodoxed, almost alien. Almost waiting for some Smart A*% to respond back "E.T. Enroute".

Anyone know when this will take over full time??

Thanks

This is the greatest damage Billy Gates has done to the computer industry: the widespread perception that all computers are defective and/or unreliable because billyboxes are. I can assure you that some non-billy systems, such as alphas running OpenVMS, can run months or years without any kind of failure.

Yup, It's so annoying!!! I wish they would throw that computer in the trash!!!

I find that channel annoying not because of the computer voice, but because it is so active. If I don't lock it out, I can hardly hear anything else. Admittedly, part of the problem is that the computer voice talks slower than a human might.

War Games- NORAD Installs Computers in the Place of Humans and a USAF Officer kills his partner. the Airforce almost blows the World out of the Galexey. Fortunately it was a movie. The director Yelled "Cut" and it stopped. however today we have expensive and sophisticated computer technology in charge of deciding many things that would make the average Joe fall out in Fear. But, The DOD have tinkered with them spending Our money with some serious research. Chances are today these things will work.

But with any new technology if it isn't tried and tested till it's perfect, it can become a double edged sword and cut them who crafted it and cut those it is built to protect.

I fear the Voice to Text/Text to Voice Technology is too Un-perfected to put in use protecting the General Public in Large Busy Cities. But since 9-11 so much emphisis has been put in to Secure Radio Communications. But all in the name of the allmighty Dollar. I hope this does not prove to become a fatality We all will regret.

I used to like listening to the fire dispatch channel, since they were sepparated into 2 different channels (The EMS and Fire Dispatch). Now I can't do that, yeah I agree with you, you will have to have one scanner dedicated to HFD alone! So you can actually listen to everything else!!!
