There is a new lattice tower constructed over spring on the west side of Columbus. The map on the ULS matches the location. Upon my last observation, there is what appears to be a CommScope VHF base antenna along with a DB 586Y?? or similar antenna mounted near the top. Nebraska Public Radio has a small FM translator antenna installed on the tower too.

Too far south of me to log/hear anything. I'll bring my Pro96 with me at some point to monitor for activity. Platte County SO is still active over SRS as I type this. Speculating this could be something new for Columbus PD/FD?? Which is dispatched by Platte County SO.

New 800mhz trunked site to add to the NE SRS radio system. Nearing completion, I have the GTR's powered up.

This tower went live last week. I can hear surrounding counties that are typically on the Humphrey tower and Osceola tower. However Platte County Sheriff is yet to be heard on the Columbus tower for some reason. They continue to be on the other 2 towers - even dispatch - which doesn't make sense. I don't know if the radios need manually updated or if that's all done automatically through the other tower's data channels.

Still haven’t heard any chatter on Columbus FD side yet off of this tower or the p25 system. Inside source says they have the radios and do testing on them throughout town but are still running the conventional vhf. Infact I don’t hear much anything off of this tower.

You won't, fire dept is encrypted AES256.

CPD was using talkgroup 51003 before they went encrypted and are now using secure talkgroup 51004. CFD has been testing radios as they're installed on talkgroup 51007 (not encrypted) and I've heard a couple test tone outs as well. Nobody has been able to confirm if CFD will be encrypted or not when they fully switch over.

NSP has been using the tower. Madison SO is often on it, as well as Lifenet.

PCSO has not been on the tower that I've heard. I'm wondering of some of the issue is the 800 MHz frequency. I don't know if that requires different radios or possibly a reprogramming to use the 800 band?

I do their radio work, and they will be. But yes sheriff is waiting for entitlement upgrades.
