Area homes now being evacuated to Conifer High School

Anyone else monitoring this? I'm having a difficult time receiving all the traffic from Colorado Springs

2:15 PM - Fire is now 50+ acre's and can't be fought until air support arrives and gets a good assessment

2:36 PM - 3 tankers are confirmed en route including tanker 182, and tanker 452

2:46 PM - Spring Creek Subdivision now getting reversed 911 for a possible evacuation

2:51 PM - Fire has grown significantly and now there is talk about putting out an area wide reverse 911 for points as far as Buffalo Creek

JEFFERSON COUNTY - A wildfire straddling Jefferson and Douglas counties has now grown to 90 acres.

North Fork Fire, Mountain Community Fire and the U.S. Forest Service are fighting the fire, which is burning on Highway 67 on U.S. Forest Service land, between 5 and 10 miles north of Deckers. Three airplanes and one helicopter are providing support from the air.

The fire was reported around 12:20 p.m. Sunday. A spokesperson for the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office says it appears the fire started at the Bridge Crossing Campground.

We understand structures are threatened, but it's not clear how many are in danger. Spokesperson Jacki Kelley says there are not a lot of houses in the area. She says those who choose to evacuate can go to Conifer High School.

JEFFERSON COUNTY - A wildfire threatening structures has now grown to 105 acres and Highway 67 is closed in both directions.

North Fork Fire, Mountain Community Fire and the U.S. Forest Service are fighting the fire, which is being called the Oxyoke Fire. The fire is burning on U.S. Forest Service land, between 5 and 10 miles north of Deckers. The fire was zero percent contained as of 9 p.m. Sunday night. At one point the fire was straddling Jefferson and Douglas counties, but we now understand the fire is only in Jefferson County. Three single engine airplanes, one helicopter, and one heavy air tanker are providing support from the air.

The fire was reported around 12:20 p.m. Sunday. A spokesperson for the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office says it appears the fire started at the Bridge Crossing Campground.

150 fire fighters have been battling the fire. A spokesperson for the Pike National Forest says 10-15 homes have been evacuated.

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office says deputies are patrolling the Douglas County side of the Platte River, telling campers about the situation. No one has been evacuated on the Douglas County side of the river, although Platte River Road (Douglas County Road 97) is closed between Night Hawk Hill (Douglas County Road 40) and Sugar Creek.

Fire fighters are expected to stop around midnight. Ten fire trucks will remain near threatened homes to protect them overnight.

The Red Cross has closed a temporary shelter at Conifer High School due to lack of usage. The Red Cross is on stand-by if that shelter needs to be re-opened.

Residents who need help because of the Oxyoke Fire are asked to call the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office at 303-271-0211.
