VHF / UHF compact antenna. There is an SRH36, but it's too long.

Take a look at the Remtronix 820s SMA 100 which includes the ring that will be consistent with the water-resistant design of the radio. Great improvement over the crappy stock antenna. Works great even on UHF however, VHF HI, not so much.
maybe you mean REM-842s?

Take a look at the REM-842S. That's what I use most of the time on my SDS100. While many of the agencies here in DFW are on 700/800MHz trunked systems, Dallas (city) public safety is on Uhf, and Dallas County, along with some of the smaller cities, uses Vhf-high.

If you want to see information, research it yourself on your favorite search engine. The 820s 100 it is made for 7-8 hundred megahertz but does work well on UHF as well but is very poor on VHF High. The 842s is a tri-band antenna. A good performer.

No, as Steve points out. If you want to see information, research it yourself on your favorite search engine.
Remtronix 820s at 700-800. I wrote about the VHF / UHF range. 140-174 / 400-470.

Keep in mind that multiple band antennas are a compromise in reception.

I have several antennas for mine and I change them out when listening to certain bands/departments. The only specific antenna I haven't found is one for VHF-Lo, due to size constraints imposed by physics.

Yes I know. I want one universal) For everything else, there are other antennas!

If you have a mix of systems, in all three “bands” (VHF, UHF, and 700/800MHz), the 842S is your best option.
Your SRH36 is similar in size (length) to the RH77CA. That’s a decent antenna but it’s length can be annoying. It does well on VHF and UHF, and is acceptable on most 700/800MHz trunked systems in your metro area, though not if they are farther away or with a weaker signal.

The 842S does well on the VHF/UHF, without sacrificing the 700/800MHz trunked systems. A multiband antenna is always somewhat of a compromise, but for my area it is the better choice .

any piece of metal or wire receives radio waves, some better, some worse.
the size will specify what is the best frequency and after that the band, and multiples of it.
i use a radio shack 800mhz and can get the space station in the 145 band.
the motorola 150mhz antenna does slightly better.
but i would not call the RS800 garbage or great, since it can 'hear' something 250 miles away.
for the base stations i have here i set the antenna for a band and then put in that frequency band into the radio.
so the one with an 18 inch antenna gets the 150 band the 6 inch one gets the 400 band etc.

if you want to listen to more than one frequency then get a custom cut antenna because for more than one frequency everything else is a compromise.
