Hello.

I just got a scanner (Well 5 years old). Got it back when I was 13. Didn't have much interest in it until now. I wanted to know if someone could help set up my scanner. I have been reading alot of resources but when ever I enter a channel freq in nothing happens.

As far as I got was the weather forcast by hitting the WX button. I want to hear police stations and what not. I have freq of where I live but nothing picks up. Is there something I am doing wrong? I live in the Milwaukee area.

I am using theTwin Turbo Sportcat (uniden)
Model Number: SC150B

Thank you and have a nice day.

Start looking by looking in the Milwaukee database, however there is not much in Milwaukee County that is not on the MCTRS 800 MHz trunked system...which your scanner doesn't cover.

Otherwise, look in the Wisconsin database for information statewide.

As a test, go into search mode with 860.000 as the low frequency and 869.000 as the high frequency and see if the radio is operating on the 800 MHZ band at all. Then we can take it in steps for you. Your radio generally covers the 806-956 bandspace with a few exceptions, so give the test a try. Part of Milwaukee County is using the Project 25 digital protocol, but as I understand it, the old TRS system still has analog audio which your receiver can pick up. Don't know how much of the old system is used these days, but give it a shot.

To start off, your user manual is located at: http://www.uniden.com/pdf/SC150Bom.pdf

Unfortunately, your scanner covers the 800MHz band but does not have trunking technology. Your best bet would be to listen to the city of Milwaukee PD and FD whose frequencies are located in the database at the following link: http://www.radioreference.com/modules.php?name=RR&aid=913

Although most cities and villages use the 800 system, the following link to the database gives any conventional frequencites that they still use, expecially during special events. If you are near the North Shore, I know that their FD still communicates on the conventional frequencies listed: http://www.radioreference.com/modules.php?name=RR&ctid=3092

Happy scanning!

How come I cant put this long of a number in my scanner? 465.07500 I can only put in the 0750 without the other 0??

That was also the first thing I downloaded was the manual before I posted on this web site. However it doesn't explain much.

Just program in 465.075 and hit the 'enter' button in whichever memory location you choose and don't worry about the rest of the zeros. If a frequecy from the list ENDS in a zero, it is just a 'filler'. If the frequency ends in a whole number ( usually a 5 for the moment), it will only be 4 places to the right of the decimal. If I remember correctly, your scanner accepts 4 digits to the right of the decimal, so don't worry about any 4th digit if it is a zero or 5th digit at all, as it will not affect your particular programming. Good Luck!

Better yet, don't put in 465.075 at all; put in 460.075 to hear Milwaukee PD.
