Hey all, I've been reading through what I can, but unfortunately I'm so far behind in understanding all of this that it's just confused me even more. I have what I believe to be a pretty simple goal in mind, and am hoping someone might be able to point me in the right direction.

I have a Radioshack Pro-106 which I used to use to listen to local police (Western Wayne County)....however it has quit working since certain departments apparently made a switch of some sort.

If I just want to be able to listen to a few police departments...Livonia, Westland, Garden City, etc....what would I have to do? What scanner would I have to buy?

Thank you for any help

You will not be able to listen to Livonia or Canton, both departments are encrypted full time. Westland, Garden City, Dearborn Heights, Inkster and Wayne have moved to the MPSCS statewide system. I don't know anything about the Pro-106 so I can't say if that will monitor MPSCS or not.

Pro-106

The Pro-106 will monitor the Michigan system but does sometimes have trouble (as do all scanners) with simulcast. Washtenaw County uses very little encryption if you want some easy to receive listening, and you should be able to get the State Police.

The new Wayne County control frequencies are as follows.

852.9250
853.5000
853.7250
853.8250
853.9750

These are the only frequencies that need to be programmed into your scanner for Wayne County for now. Just to save some complications at this point.

In your scanner;
-push program.

-Scroll to where ever you have your Wayne County.

-push edit.

-Scroll down to frequencies and push OK. You can change the frequencies here.

Do you have talk group ID's entered in your radio?
