I'm looking to get an older plectron or Motorola alert monitor, if the reciever has low band crystal installed is it just as simple as swapping for say a VHF crystal? I was curious on this. I was also curious how two tone paging alerts work on these recievers too.
Thanks

Like most radios of that era, the receiver circuits are band specific so swapping a low band crystal for a vhf high band or uhf one is simply not possible.

Plectrons came in multiple configurations for tone alerting such as single tone, qc-ii, and Plectron fast tones. Again, the circuitry was type specific.

Plus he also can modify the receiver to better receive narrowband signals. These were designed back in days of wideband signals.
