PLS HELP ; IC-R5 or VR-120D ???

Hello ; i'm new to scanning anything beyond 30 MHZ ; which is better the icom or the yaesu ??? where i live they go for the same price .

Onless you need milair, I would buy a pro-83 on close-out for $69. It is a really good receiver, better than many that cost 4 times the price.

definetly icom r5 has ctcss compact great audio more features on vr120 but no ctcss.better off getting a 330t.

I have both the IC-R5 and the BR-330T. (Also the VR-500) The BR330T has many more features and is much easier to program than the IC-R5. It is about $45-$75 more than the IC-R5, but I think it is worth every cent that it cost. The only down side is that the BR-330T doesn't have SSB, but neither does the IC-R5 or the VR-120D (the VR-500 does receive SSB, but I don't find it that useful)

yes the 330t is the best hh non digital scanner. i wonder why they did not add ctss to the vr500 would of been great if they did.
