• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hey guys ,

Having trouble finding the PM1500 pinout for the db-25 port. Anyone have it?

I am attempting to make an adapter for a fire-com intercom system in our rescue truck.

I have the speaker hooked up correctly to Pin 24 & 25, however i cant get the transmit and transmit audio

the following needs to be connected

PTT HI attempted pin1 which is labeled aux_ptt acording to the service manual and no dice
PTT reference
Tx Audio Hi
Tx Audio Lo
and the rx audio is connected to the speaker and operates correctly.

SteveC0625 sent you the pinout for the 26p connector on the control head. This would work except it sounds like you are going to the DB-25 on the radio chassis.

OK, receive is up on pins 24 & 25, good deal.
Connect TX audio high to pin 15 (AUX_MIC).
Connect PTT high to pin 1 (AUX_PTT).
Connect TX audio low to pin 11 and PTT reference to pin 18.

If this doesn't work, there are jumpers that will change the default function of the pins in case someone got inside. See attached for correct pinout and notes.

CRAP! Looking back I see a glitch.

On the PDF diagram, table 8-3 lists pin 15 as mic high. But on figure 8-5 the pin is labled monitor. Pin 12 is marked mic high. ??????

OK, I admit, I've never hooked a headset to a PM-1500 but there you go...
Let us know what you find out!

thanks, I am going to attempt this tonight when I go in, I will definitely post a follow up

Ramal this is where I was getting confused last night where the two-tables aren't corresponding to each other. Motorola cant even keep it straight in the manual.

Thank you but pin 13 is on the control head 26 pin connector. I was needing one on the DB-25 connector on the back of the radio itself.

Yes, that is for the 26 pin chart for the accessory connector on the rear of the control head. I am needing it for the 25 pin connector (TIB) on the back of the main radio unit.

I just did an internet search, and found the info on the radio's DB-25 in just a few seconds. It was also posted in July of 2011 based on the same question from the same OP as this thread but over on the batboard.
