• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

That's the wrong CPS. You need the Astro 25 Mobile CPS and the proper RIBless cable (USB or serial). That radio doesn't use a RIB at all. The USB cable I have here is part # HKN6148C but I'm not sure about the serial cable part number (could look it up if need be).

Perhaps you're missing some CPS files? Since it's safe to assume you didn't get that from MOL.

BUY the correct software.
BUY the correct cable.

You have a $1500 radio. Why would you NOT buy legal software and get support you PAID for, and the latest and greatest features?

The part number for current ASTRO 25 Mobile CPS R20.00.00 is RVN4185AV. Motorola's number is 1-800-814-0601. Give them a call and they should have you all setup by the end of next week, if you don't already have an account.

In the Scan List window in CPS, do you have it set up for Operator Select? If it's set to Fixed, you'll get what you describe.

Scan -> Scan List (whichever one you want to be able to change from the CH) -> General tab of Scan List, near the bottom of that window, change Non-Priority Members from Fixed to Operator Select.

I believe R17 was known to brick radios without warning, will need to double check that. Anyway, without looking at your codeplug, I'm not sure what's wrong. The info I gave earlier came from looking at a PM1500 codeplug I have here.

The firmware needs to be upgraded since Operator Selectable scan wasn't enabled on PM1500s until Host and DSP R10.00.00. The radio currently has something older in it.
