Oh, and the audio is low for me as well on UHF, so it is difficult to understand over here too.

Interestingly, during the day (today) there is a lot of traffic on 453.000 that is definitely not ambulance dispatch. A couple of transmissions sounded like vehicle maintenance discussions and the rest have been directions. I have yet to hear a unit number. It is quite strong and is coming in clearly even with the squelch turned all the way up.

Just heard numerous calls on 453.000 pertaining to school bus traffic in the southeast valley. Dispatcher was assigning an extra bus to San Tan Elementary for boys soccer and giving bus assignments to drivers coming on duty. This is the same dispatcher I heard in the previously mentioned traffic including one of the parties involved in the vehicle maintenance discussions.

Another school mentioned was Bogle Elementary which is in Chandler.

Back to the general PMT discussion. The east channel drives me nuts as the repeater often seems to stay on for anywhere from one to two minutes after the last transmission (with nothing but dead air). There is a strong RF signal but little static and even with the volume turned up, no faint vocal traffic or ident tones. There is definitely an audio signal and not just an RF carrier that is causing the scanner to stay on the channel and not resume scanning. I was working in the west valley a couple days this week and it seemed to be more noticeable there than it is at my home in Chandler.
Anyone else notice this?

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I'm hearing PMT roll call traffic for Tempe, Chandler and now Scottsdale units on 452.7375, along with school bus radio traffic. I have yet to look through the database to see which (LTR Passport?) system this is.

It belongs to IAN Communications Shaw Butte LTR Passport trunked system. So that's two of IAN Communications systems that are used by PMT. The other one is the White Tanks system I mentioned in an earlier post.

The squelch breaks on my PRO-43, but not on my PSR-500 when monitoring 453.000.

Ahh, they don't make scanners like they used to....when GRE was made in Japan...

Well, having the squelch break at regular intervals (several seconds apart) gets real annoying real fast. Not having the squelch break until an actual signal is heard makes for more comfortable listening.

I put the Freq in ye'old scanner and have heard some traffic. However, it did not sound Ambo related. I'll keep it on for a few more weeks and see what's happening.

Airscan, both PMT Ambulance and Southwest Ambulance provide 9-1-1 ambulance service to the various cities they have contracts with, as well as private and interfacility transports.

rpgaun, there are multiple frequencies available for both the White Tanks and the Shaw Butte sites of IAN Communications LTR Passport systems. They may not always be on the one frequency I happened to find them on. You may want to program them all in.

And both of the LTR Passport systems have both PMT as well as school and/or Valley Metro buses radio traffic on them. Unfortunately, there's no way to seperate the different users, as Passport systems can't be trunk tracked with any current scanner :(

Thanks! I think I heard a PMT unit on there today but it was choppy. I think I'll lock it out as I'm more interested in the 911 stuff and PFD mainly takes care of that.

Yea, if you're in Phoenix, they have their own rescues. PMT and Southwest are mainly of interest to those who live in one of the cities that contract with one or the other.

I recently read in the newspaper that Chandler has switched to PMT for paramedic services. I have seen a number of PMT medic units with Chandler Fire Department markings on the side. The article also said that Chandler was no longer giving ambulance calls to Southwest due to "excessive response times."

The funny thing about that is PMT is (or will be) owned by Southwest, I remember reading awhile back that SW purchased PMT making only one private provider for most of the Valley. And if memory serves Rural Metro owns SW but I could be wrong.

I can't speak for Chandler, but the SW Ambulance response time in Glendale is very good. The ambulance often pulls onto the scene with or right behind the fire truck, and I have seen them arrive on scene before the FD gets there on occasion.

I also don't know how Chandler handles ambulance priority. For instance in Phoenix a rescue (ambulance) is generally NOT dispatched until fire units on scene request one. In Glendale it's the opposite. Ambulances are generally dispatched on every EMS call and are cancelled if not needed.

I've personally witnessed GFD units going Code 3 to a call, and a SWA unit slow rolling close behind. I'm guessing that SWA crews monitor PFD dispatch, and self-dispatch Code 2 in anticipation of a formal dispatch, hence their quick response times.

And it sounds like that the PMT units that are contracted to a city, such as Peoria, Scottsdale and Chandler, are dispatched by Phoenix Fire Alarm, instead of by their own dispatcher, unlike SWA which is dispatched by their own dispatcher.
