I am picking up a Sheriff on 155.97. It is a repeater output and I have heard units calling Pocahantas. Due to the accent, it is in Kentucky/West Virginia or farther south. Do they now have a repeater with this output frequency? I am picking it up in Champaign County Ohio.

Thanks

Last time I listened to them it was simplex. That is some great reception hearing them into Ohio! I can barely hear them locally and I'm only about 50 miles away. Snowshoe Mtn is definitly high in elevation.

Well i am sure that this is who I am hearing, this morning they had said something about the Cranberry River, which kind of confirms it. I am listening on a CDM1250, so I do not know what PL tone it is. This is running off of a stationmaster base antenna at 180 feet on a tower.

This does not surprise me, Pocahontas County 911 must have a optimum place for their tower.
Pocahontas county is extremely mountainous and is one of the higher elevations in the state.

FYI I can hear Wood Co WV Sheriff Dept on the boarder with Marietta Ohio Lima Charlie when I am on the US 68/70 Cumberland MD area. It just goes to show how tower placement, signal propagation and if you have a hot receiver all play a part together.
