Pretty nice, you should just secure the scanner better.

The bc796 is mounted safely in the trunk so normally I only have the pocket PC in a holder and the ext. vol/sq control, I just put it there for the picture.

It's so he can put the scanner in the trunk and control it via the Pocket PC. It saves space.

The scanner head is still in the cab of his vehicle. The head controls the radio, so again why the ppc?

though thar radio is remote mount so i don't see the need for ppc control.

If I understand you correctly, you are saying that the radio itself features a remote mount from the factory.

This is not the case, the BC796 is not a remote mount radio. If it was, then yes these remote control devices wouldn't be required.

In Amsterdam you don't want a Uniden BC796 visible in your car :-(
The 796 is mounted in the trunk, when I leave the car I take out the pocket PC.

Thanks for the info. Sorry about not having your radios visible. If you are in Amsterdam why does your Pocket PC show Conneticut State Police in Fairfield?

That is a remote-head conversion kit that is available from Scanner Master. It costs more than the radio itself, but can be super-handy.

I believe that kfswkr (?) was referring to the remote-mount photo that was in his link.
