Anybody have suggestions about what sentinel downloads to program into Uniden 536 to get police frequencies in Orange, Rockland and Westchester Counties. I've programmed the P25 systems that have the municipalities for the three counties in them, but only get Clarkstown PD full signal.

All 3 systems contain simulcast cells. With that said you may experience a phenominon known as simulcast distortion, perhaps the most discussed issue on these forums. In a simulcast system, a site is not a single transmitter at a specific location, but rather a collection of transmitters spread out over a certain area that all transmit on the same frequency at the same time. It's all those signals coming to your scanner at the same time that cause most scanners to lock up, stutter, miss transmissions, etc. Ultimately the only scanners designed to mitigate the effects of simulcast distortion are the Uniden SDS100 (portable) or SDS200 (base). Yes they are the most expensive but they do the job right. There are a number of workarounds for other scanners mentioned in the wiki I linked but they work in very few cases.

Sounds like you programmed Clarkstown's 800 MHz standalone repeater, which is (usually) patched with the trunked system. What you need to do is to program the Rockland and Orange trunked systems, that's where all PD activity is. Westchester police agencies do not use the trunked system, so you need to program conventional channels for that county.

Don’t forget NYSP also… troop T (they utilize the nys thruway authority radio system and it’s a voted scan) Troop K (all zones) TMC covers Westchester and Poughkeepsie covers i84 where you can monitor the entire convo with units calling in and dispatch replying.. ever since the troop T handed responsibility of i84 to K for some reason a repeater was installed and activated so all units can hear a call and quickly respond to back up… NYSP on their VHF duplex system is annoying to monitor as u will only hear the hq for that zone clearly unless you’re right next to a troop car

ever since the troop T handed responsibility of i84 to K for some reason
In 2010 control of I84 transferred from the Thruway Authority back to the state, at which point DOT took over maintenance and Troops F and K assumed policing responsibility. The Thruway Authority had been maintaining and policing it for roughly 20 under contract with the state. Anyway, ancient history.

And troop K base is now repeated correct? Not duplex like other VHF channels NYSP uses?

I did have Orange County Radio Network and Rockland County Public Safety Com. System programmed. Reprogrammed , same results only Clarkstown coming in. Maybe I can't receive in southern Bergen County?

Southern Bergen is a bit of a stretch. Sounds like you're out of range of both systems. If the scanner doesn't lock onto a control channel, then you're not going to decode either system.

I’m in southern rockland with external antennas and I can not pull in orange, you won’t lock on from southern Bergen.

Alright then, I also tried outside antenna. Thank you. I am receiving the Westchester P25 transmissions but only fire/ems frequencies.

They are repeated, That is recent probably within the last 6 months. Who knows if its even permanent. Troop F tried it a few years ago and then went back to being duplexed on VHF..

I have good info that repeater operations will be remaining for good now. Some more improvements like simulcast TX are in the works too.
