Police Lingo question??? PROM SHOOT

I keep hearing the word "PROM" in front of the word "SHOOT". I would like to know what PROM refers to. I understand that there is a random shots fired report and this report is from someone hearing shots fired and not actually seeing a gun being fired. Could even be fireworks.
