Thursday morning's police-band broadcast is the one all officers dread: "Shots fired. Officer down!"
It also was a hoax.

At 10:58 a.m., as officers used their radios to coordinate the search, someone shouted, "Shots fired. Officer down!" on a police radio channel.

I saw this on northwest cable news tonight and they played the tape of the person. Thats way most Police depts want to move to encrypted systems. Looks like it time for salem PD to move to 800 mhz.
