I was planning to purchase a new digital scanner., since the local county police department has gone digital and my state hwy patrol is also digital. But, I have been told by a local deputy, that they are not giving out my local county frequencies. Does this mean I can't hear the local police department, even if i bought a new digital scanner? I still hear my local ambulance and fire, because they are still analog. Will I be able to get the digital frequencies on radio reference website? and will they allow me to hear the local police?

Yes you can monitor Marshall County SO as well as Kentucky State Police with a digital scanner and yes the frequencies are listed in RR database.
I monitor both with my Uniden BCD996T scanner.
