I'm slowly getting back into listening to my scanners. I have notice that there isn't as much police chatter as their was a couple of years ago. Is their a reason for this or am I just listening at the wrong time? Thanks for your time........Ray

Many departments have also migrated to mobile data systems of one type or another. That tends to reduce radio traffic as well.

And cell phones have made a huge impact on police (and fire and ems) operations. Lots of stuff that was routinely done on the radio is now handled by phone.
