Polk County Trunked - none verbal communication?

My brother and I are in a disagreement about what we are hearing on the PCSO trunked frequencies. What sounds like "computer" or "digital static" can be heard at various times. They are not long or short interval like sounds, they are about a few seconds of two or three bursts. He says it's the system re-assigning another channel as the trunking system is used. I believe it is ether encrypted or computer "chat" between mobiles, base and or both. I don't think you can "hear" the trunking system alternating the channels if that’s the right term to use. We hear verbal transmissions, but it seems this activity of "computer like noise" we are hearing seems to be using the channels more and more. It's getting to the point that it's difficult to listen to the PCSO with out having your finger ready to hit the scan button all the time. I have used the DATA mode button on my PRO-2050 (yes, time for an upgrade) but it seems to not have any effect on this. So, who's right, or are we both wrong?

PCSO apparently has a fair number of encrypted talkgroups. I've also noticed a few other encrypted ones (other than what's listed in the database), but none of them have had recent activity.

There also another talkgroup (32272) that sounds like it's used for data. It's most likely used by the Utilities Department.

If you are hearing short data bursts then you are probably hearing MOSCAD. MOSCAD (Motorola SCADA) is used for a variety of things such as fire station alerting and remote monitoring of trunked system equipment.

Yea, thats what I think it is too. It's getting more and more used and harder to -hear- whats going on anymore. And Polk County has a lot going on. Seems inter-city is still used a lot though, it's in the the lower bands.

You mean Intercity on 155.37? I didn't think it would be active that much, since departments use CWLE Haill (5776) to contact each other.

You would think that yes, but yea. As in a lot I ment to say it's active for what it is, which I guess could be considerd a lot. I am suprised to hear chatter. It's in the clear, no codes or zone details. But I also have noticed it does not sound like LEO chatter though. Maybe these freqs have been reassigned to a private group?

I really don't monitor 155.37 that often, but I flipped there a few weeks ago and heard Osceola SO calling Polk SO to inform them of a pursuit that would probably cross into Polk. PCSO then contacted Lake Wales PD to block off a few roads in their area. I would imagine that 155.37 is mainly used for these cross-county incidents.

Come to think of it, Lakeland PD may also use 155.37, since they're not on Polk's system.
