There is a few TGs are ENC I think its about 5 of them.Polk does not use encryption
Check to see if you have ID search on.Good evening,
I live in Polk county florida, and have a bcd996p2 scanner. I have been doing as much research as I can, but I am still stuck on the simulcast issue. I have the control channels plugged in through free scan and want to listen to north east police dispatch only which I have loaded into scanner. However, I still get all the bus chatter and still get fire and ems calls even though those groups are not added to the scanner.
My question is there a way even though it is simulcast to be able to get it to only have groups of police, fire and ems and only hear them and not everything else.
Thank you for any help

If so, it should be set to ID scan, not search.

Welcome to the Radio Reference forums! Here is a Polk County FreeSCAN file for you to see how to program your scanner. First, make sure you have saved any files you may have done already. The attached zipped file has all of the talkgroups for Polk County. You will be able to easily select what you want to scan by using quick keys. Each of the 10 groups has a quick key to toggle that group on and off. While scanning the system, press the scroll knob and then the quick key number of a group to toggle it on and off. The 2 sites have system quick keys. Pressing 1 on the keypad will toggle the PolkCo Simulcast site on and off. Pressing 2 will toggle the Bartow Aircraft site on and off. This file has a separate group for Polk Sheriff NE on group quick key 8. The remainder of the Sheriff talkgroups are in the PolkCo Sherff group on group quick key 9. There are 2 files attached. The first one is your FreeSCAN programming file. The second PDF file will answer all of your questions about using quick keys. Save the attached zipped file to your scanner and extract. Open the extracted file with FreeSCAN. Connect your computer and scanner with the programming cable. Go to the Scanner tab in FreeSCAN and click on Upload Programming. Select Erase All Systems & Settings (in red). That will clear everything in the scanner for a clean start. Click on Start Upload.
