I have to second that one. I have yet to buy from anyone but THE SHACK. Accessories are another matter, however. I do have one bit of advice: Do your homework and know what you want beforehand. The salesmen there are nothing but Sprint pitchmen.

:D I would have to agree, Radio Shack easy to get in and out. Ham Radio Outlet is another good place. An online location that seems to have competetive prices is www.usascan.com . :)

Like I said yesterday: I have never heard of these guys and all they have for an address is a P.O. box and that always puts a stop sign up for me.

http://www.bearcat1.com/ is another good place with people you can trust and great prices.

I would buy either from Radio Shack or eBay. eBay makes life good.

You can run that STOP SIGN

That is The Hobby Stop, owned and operated by "Mr. Scanner" himself, Norm Schrein. Who also happens to edit and publish National Communications magazine

If ncessary I can give you directions to the store located in Kettering, Ohio. As matter of fact Norm offers a cash discount on most items bought at the store or one of the many hamfests he sets up at.

I also agree 100% that the people that work at Radioshack are more trained to sell you a sprint phone then tell you 1 feature a scanner has or anything else for that matter.I always know ahead of time what I am going in for and if they dont have it I walk right on out. I asked them for a oem battery pack for a pro-92 and what did I get?A guy offering me 3packs of 4 double A's for 10.00. :? :?

HAM STATION....

I've had a FANTASTIC experience with Jeff at the Ham Station in Evansville, Indiana. He is more than willing to track down information -- and his prices are right. First class service. I'm still enjoying the 296D which I bought from his store.

I know there address is on the site somewhere. I needed it for a trip I made there for my 780 when they first came out. Anyways they are aka National Communications (yes the magazine). I think we can all trust Norm Schrein when buying a radio.
